The growth of my own children, their inevitable separation as persons who need to care for their own families, and the longing to belong in transience seems to pair with the contemporary dilemma of job searches and financial stability away from the close extended family farm life that was the experience of my childhood. There is a loneliness and longing for touch in this separation that does not diminish even with our technical abilities to quickly communicate. The Ede, Slew Series, and Family Portrait works are private narratives, but when exhibited have proven to be a comfort to those who recognize kinship.
