The Slew Series was named for two things, the “nickname” given to me by my uncle, and it is a reference to opposing extremes. Each one is a memorial for a beloved family member.  The assemblage method of working is in keeping with my natural affinity to make collections, build, appropriate the ageing effects of time, and to revel in my interest in textures. Freedom to use the traditional handwork, craft techniques, and furniture building taught to me by my family combined with my academic training in painting, drawing and sculpture provides a wholeness in this Series that has sustained me over many years.
